The SJN (Social Justice Network) is at the heart of the diocesan vision that we are ‘changed lives changing lives’, as we help to transform our communities through social action.
SJN had its official launch on Thursday 13 June in Canterbury Cathedral Lodge. We were joined by Bishop Rose as well as our partners, supporters, volunteers, project leaders, and friends to celebrate this new charity. SJN helps the poor, marginalised, homeless, those leaving prison into street homelessness, refugees and asylum seekers, both in the UK and in Northern France.
Executive Director of SJN, The Revd Dr Jonathan Aronld explained; "Living with and being alongside the most in need is a way of loving one’s neighbour, of living out the Works of Mercy and seeing the face of Christ in the hungry, thirsty, the stranger, the sick, the prisoner. For Jesus said, ‘Just as you did this for the least of these, you did it to me.’ "
