Public Notices for Faculties


The Diocesan Advisory Committee has issued advice to the Parochial Church Council (PCC) of the Parishes listed below in respect of proposed works, and a petition has been submitted to the Commissary Court of the Diocese of Canterbury for a Faculty to authorise these works.

Any interested party may seek further details at the church in question. Before a Faculty is granted, a public notice will be displayed for a continuous period of at least 28 days at the Church. This notice will also state where detailed plans and specifications of the works may be viewed.

Objections must reach the Registrar on or before the deadline stated on the public notice below, or on the exhibited public notice (whichever is the later).

Parish: Tenterden Saint Mildred

Name of Church:  St Mildred

Description of Works:      

Phase 1a of transformation project

1. Redecorate the church throughout as detailed in attached specification from architect.

2. Remove and dispose of Victorian pews (except Mayoral seat and frontal - to be relocated within the church) and replace with 330 free standing (linked) stacking chairs (Trinity Theo wooden chairs, beech finish). Two blocks of pews on the North and South Aisles are on raised (100 mm) wooden plinths, these to be removed and the void beneath boarded using existing boarding from the plinths, level with the rest of the nave.

3. Relocate 4 radiators that currently lie North-South along the cross aisle and 2 small radiators at the front of the nave to adjacent but less obtrusive locations as shown in the attached plans (Annex A to schedule of Works ).

4. Relocate safe and central nave floor microphone point

Parish: St. Bartholomew Herne Bay

Name of Church: St Bartholomew

Description of Works:        

Installation of toilet facilities, to include disabled access, in the void area of the West porch, currently used as storage space.

Description of Works:        

Provision of glass doors to porch

Parish: High Downs

Name of Church: Throwley: St Michael & All Angels

Description of Works:

Relocation of cartouche which presently stands on the floor of the Sondes Chapel between a tomb and the east wall of the chapel. The proposal is to repair the cartouche in accordance with the attached architect's specification and mount it on a new Portland stone corbel between the two windows on the south side of the chapel in accordance with the wishes of Lady Sondes as shown on the architect's drawing. The corbel will be fixed to Portland stone blocks with stainless steel rods set in resin as shown on the engineer's sketch.

Parish: Westwell

Name of Church: Westwell: St Mary

Description of Works:

The proposed works to St Mary’s Church consist of a new kitchen, toilet, boiler room and pumped connection to a mains sewer. The new kitchen will be located to the western end of North Aisle, the new toilet and boiler room will be located in a new extension replacing an existing extension to north elevation. Please refer to schedule of works, existing and proposed drawings, and photo collection.
