The Bishop of Dover seeks to appoint a Priest in Charge for the parish of St Laurence-in-Thanet, Ramsgate, Kent.
Ramsgate is an historic port town in the south of the Isle of Thanet. The parish of St Laurance makes up the greater part of the town and is comprised of five churches. The demographic of the parish and the traditions of the churches are varied and there is a strong team of lay and ordained colleagues.
The Rectory is adjacent to St Laurence’s Church and has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large garden and a study / office with a separate entrance. There are a number of schools within the parish.
This is an important appointment. The parish has real potential for growth and there is an opportunity to look creatively at how the ministry of the Gospel is shaped in a large and varied community. There is a job to do and the right person could make a real difference with and among the people of the parish.
The Diocese of Canterbury has adopted three bold outcomes looking towards 2030 that align with the priorities of the national Church:
- Doubling the number of children and young disciples
- 200 new Christian communities
- Every parish, benefice and deanery showing signs of revitalisation.
