Season of Safeguarding 2025 | 16 – 23 November

In collaboration with Canterbury Cathedral, this week brings together parishes across our diocese for focused reflection, prayer, and safeguarding activities.

Ongoing prayer for safeguarding

Holy Innocents Chapel at Canterbury Cathedral will be set aside as a prayer space all week. Parishes are encouraged to create equivalent local prayer spaces and use the Diocesan Prayer Calendar for safeguarding-focused prayers.

Online Webinar – ‘What matters to victims and survivors and their relationship with the Church; A personal account and reflection’

An online session led by Ioannis (Yannis) Athanasiou, the National Safeguarding Team's Survivor Engagement Lead, exploring survivors' perspectives and how the Church should respond.

Book onto the webinar.

Holy Communion at Canterbury Cathedral – Peace & Justice

A Cathedral Holy Communion service dedicated to peace and justice. Parishes are encouraged to explore the themes of peace and justice in their own services.

Child Safety Focus

Resources and child-centred materials will be provided soon to help parishes communicate age-appropriate safeguarding messages to children and young people.

Service of Lament at Canterbury Cathedral

A Service of Lament focusing on the harm caused by failures in safeguarding. The Cathedral will hold an Evensong Lament in the Quire. Parishes are invited to hold local lament services or come to the Cathedral Evensong.
