Canterbury Diocese is registered as an Eco Diocese and encourages churches to engage with the Eco Church programme.
Eco Church is an environmental award scheme for churches. It is run by the Christian charity A Rocha UK, which works to care for our natural world.
Eco Church provides a framework for churches to respond to God’s mandate to care for creation. Canterbury Diocese strongly encourages churches to join the Eco Church scheme and to take the survey.
Registration as an Eco Church is free and taking the online Eco Survey tells you how well you are doing in caring for creation. It also provides ideas for taking further action. A copy of the Eco Survey questions can be downloaded for reference. The Eco Survey covers five themes and further information and ideas for action can be found by clicking on each:
- Worship and teaching
- Management of buildings
- Management of church land
- Community and global engagement
- Lifestyle
