Book launch of William and Lucy lead Collective Worship

Story book shows the different elements within an act of collective worship

Year six pupils at Deal Parochial School helped celebrate the launch of a new book with an act of collective worship they had created themselves.

Staff, students and guests, including Archdeacon Darren Miller, joined them in song and reflection as they led those assembled on a journey exploring trust.

The new resource book focuses on William and Lucy who are worship leaders in their primary school and they explore how to plan, prepare and present different ways of everyone getting involved.

The book was written by Canterbury Diocese Schools Officer Rebecca Swansbury. She said: “This was a really exciting project to be involved with and even my daughter Annika joined in as she is the artist!

“It was so important to create something that would help inspire and engage everyone in a school and the stories, drawings and ideas really capture that.

“Child led worship means they are involved in the whole process from planning and creating to leading the act of worship and it was a joy to watch the pupils of Deal Parochial as they shared what they had learned and prepared.”
