From 12-14 November, Canterbury Cathedral was filled with over 900 year 6 pupils and staff, who were taking part in the annual Cathedral Schools Days.

Across the three days, the pupils explored a range of creative workshops and spent time praying for justice and peace in our world having reflected on the righteous anger Jesus expresses at an unjust situation.

Each day closed with an act of collective worship led by the pupils. All those present were blessed by the reflective prayers, insightful and honest talks and beautiful singing from the Choir, which was formed on the day.

One of the school leaders who attended the event said: "I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped arrange and support the Cathedral Schools Day.

"It was truly a wonderful event, and it was clear that the children had a fantastic time.

"They thoroughly enjoyed the wide range of activities, workshops, and prayer stations on offer.

"The worship service in the afternoon was a beautiful and uplifting conclusion to the day."

Speaking about the days, Dr John Moss, Chair of the Diocesan Board of Education, said: "It is a real privilege to witness the high level of engagement and indeed excitement shown by the students.

"The organisation and content of the day all looked great too."

This is a jointly organised event by the Diocesan Children and Young People team and Cathedral Education department. However, the huge group of volunteers from the Cathedral, Diocesan House and Clergy team are what makes the days come to life. Thank you to all those who supported and faithfully served during these days.

The schools days followed the publishing of ‘Spiritual Agents’, a book written by Deputy Director for Education Rebecca Swansbury. Drawing on scripture and research, it is for anyone who works with children and young people in a school worship or church setting.
