The Revd Richard Braddy has been named as the next Chaplain to the Bishop of Dover, the Rt Revd Rose Hudson-Wilkin. Richard is currently Vicar of the Wantsum Benefice and Co-Area Dean of Thanet. He will take up his new role in early Spring

Richard served his curacy in the Whitstable Team Parish, based at St Alphege, Seasalter, before becoming Vicar of the Wantsum Benefice in 2014. He was ordained in 2010, prior to which he worked as a music teacher and Housemaster at St Edmund's School in Canterbury. Richard is passionate about creating opportunities for faith sharing and honest conversations about God and finding ways that we can deepen our journey as disciples - as well art and all types of music.

Announcing the appointment, Bishop Rose said, "I am looking forward to welcoming Richard to the team. His passion for the gospel and his administrative abilities will be a great asset to my office as I seek to embed the priorities of prayer, the study of scripture, generosity and evangelism across the diocese. I want to thank the Wantsum benefice for having enabled him to hone his many gifts and skills that will now be further used for the benefit of the whole diocese. I am truly excited about all that lies ahead for our diocese."

"It's an exciting time for Canterbury Diocese with great challenge and opportunity as we continue to see lives changed and ministry flourish," added Richard. "Although I will be sad to leave the people of Thanet Deanery, I am looking forward to offering spiritual and practical support to Bishop Rose in her ministry and supporting the wider Diocese through the Bishop’s Office."
