Cathedral schools days 2024

First published on: 22nd November 2024

From 12-14 November, Canterbury Cathedral was filled with over 900 year 6 pupils and staff, who were taking part in the annual Cathedral Schools Days.

Across the three days, the pupils explored a range of creative workshops and spent time praying for justice and peace in our world having reflected on the righteous anger Jesus expresses at an unjust situation.

Each day closed with an act of collective worship led by the pupils. All those present were blessed by the reflective prayers, insightful and honest talks and beautiful singing from the Choir, which was formed on the day.

This is a jointly organised event by the Diocesan Children and Young People team and Cathedral Education department. However, the huge group of volunteers from the Cathedral, Diocesan House and Clergy team are what makes the days come to life. Thank you to all those who supported and faithfully served during these days.

The schools days followed the publishing of ‘Spiritual Agents’, a book written by Deputy Director for Education Rebecca Swansbury. Drawing on scripture and research, it is for anyone who works with children and young people in a school worship or church setting.
