£1.8 million raised through Parish Giving Scheme

Last year churches in our diocese raised an impressive £1.8m (including gift aid) through the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS), with £76,213.25 of this raised from 479 one-off donations.

PGS has facilitated regular giving for churches for over a decade, but only recently has it been possible for parishes to use it for one-off giving.

A benefit of one-off giving through the Parish Giving Scheme is that the gift aid is processed on your behalf and paid to your church in the same way as gift aid on your regular donations, saving you valuable time and ensuring good cash flow.

The Revd Lindsay Yates, Generous Giving Adviser said: "It is fantastic to see how much was raised through PGS during 2024 and in particular the amount collected via one-off donations. This makes it a great option for churches looking to provide a chance for both visitors and regular donors to give generously."

Vicky Alford from the Generous Giving Team added: "We can assist in creating some eye-catching pew-cards with a picture of the church and a QR code that directs donors to the church's PGS landing page, where they can make a regular or one-off donation. We are eager to help as many churches as possible promote this user-friendly way of making donations and have editable templates available."

PGS is available to all churches and allows donors to make monthly, quarterly or annual gifts via Direct Debit as well as one-off amounts by credit/debit cards and Apple/Google Pay. Donors can choose to add 25% gift aid to donations if they are eligible and this is claimed directly via PGS. Givers can also sign-up to inflation-linked giving and can donate anonymously if they prefer.
