Parishes are invited to apply for conservation grants to ensure that our cherished heritage is secure and fit for mission.

The existing national conservation grants programme which supports the conservation of special features in church includes bells, clocks, organs, stained glass, wall paintings and monuments.

The expanded programme now allows churches to:
- apply for grants towards building repairs of up to £25,000 that are linked to the conservation of an object
- bid for specialist surveys
- bid for help for existing conservation projects to reach completion

In 2024, St Lawrence Church, Godmersham received a grant for the scheme, which supported its restoration of an ancient stone carving believed to depict murdered medieval Archbishop of Canterbury St Thomas Becket.

New partnerships with conservation training in churches will be announced later in the year by the Church of England.
