Job title: Organist & Choir Director
Hours: c.4 hours per week
Pay: c.£5200pa depending on experience and qualification

The PCC of St Mary & St Eanswythe Church, Folkestone seek to appoint an Organist & Choir Director to develop the existing musical life of the Church and its contribution to the outreach and missional life within the parish and to optimise the potential for its future ministry within the town.
Duties and Responsibilities
Musical Duties include:
- Leading choir rehearsals on a Sunday morning at 9.30am, and additional rehearsals prior to major festivals & services.
- To ensure musical provision for services at SM&E, including playing for Sunday services, major festivals & principal holy days.
- To operate strategies for recruitment, retention, development & motivation of singers.
- To choose and rehearse appropriate repertoire, suitable to the situation and singers.
- To hold a simple audition for new singers as required.
- Helping to develop and encourage the musical life of the whole worshipping community at SM&E.
Safeguarding duties include:
- To model excellent safeguarding practice & engage with any necessary training.
- Ensuring that safeguarding policies are strictly adhered to.
- To refer incidents that arise through the appropriate channels.
- To engage with developments in good practice and attend to any necessary requirements as the role develops.
Administrative duties include:
- Ensuring the efficient and timely booking of musicians when required for services.
- Working with the Priest-in-Charge in the creation of termly music lists & rehearsal schedules and, where appropriate, assisting in the planning of special events & services.
- To maintain the order of the music library or to delegate that task to a responsible volunteer.
- Arranging maintenance & tuning visits for the organ.
- To engage with the organ restoration & fundraising project, advising the PCC as necessary.
Pastoral responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the care of singers and reporting concerns where appropriate to the Priest-in-Charge.
- Ensuring that new recruits and existing singers are aware of the responsibilities and commitments expected of them.
- Motivating and caring for singers.
Personal responsibilities include:
- To ensure own wellbeing and safety in all situations.
- To be aware of Church policies & procedures including: Fire, Health & Safety, Safeguarding.
- To be aware of current good practice through communication with colleagues and other resources.
